Police Beats for April 4, 2013

Estill County Sheriff’s Office

3-19 Glenn Cockrell, 33, of Jacqueline Court, was arrested by Deputy Karl Rifenbark on an Estill County District Court indictment warrant for theft by unlawful taking. Cockrell stole a leaf blower from Paula Short.

3-27 Aaron Robertson, 24, of Dry Ridge Road, was arrested by Rifenbark and charged with third degree terroristic threatening and disorderly conduct. Rifenbark responded to a call about an irate man who had assaulted several people. Rifenbark found Robertson outside of the home acting “disorderly.” Robertson said he was “going to choke” all of the people in the house.

3-27 Bobby Brandenburg, 37, of Sandhill Road, was arrested by Deputy Russell “Doc” Morris on an Estill County District Court indictment warrant for making a false statement to receive benefits over $100.

3-30 Kimberly Samples, 27, of Oak Valley Road, was arrested by Farthing and charged with fourth-degree assault. Samples was involved in an altercation with her mother. Farthing reported that Samples shoved her mother down and bit her. The victim had bite marks on her arm.

3-30 Tyler Combs, 23, of  Meadowlake Bottoms, was arrested by Morris and charged with public intoxication of a controlled substance. Morris was serving an indictment warrant on Combs. He found him sitting on a trailer parked at the end of Noland Court Trailer Park. Morris reported that Combs has slurred speech, blood shot eyes and was unsteady on his feet.

3-30 Chester Abner, 43, of South Irvine Road, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, and alcohol intoxication. The victims called dispatch and warned that Abner had returned to the home with a knife. The caller said the police needed to bring back-up. Abner was on the back porch. He showed signs of a physical struggle and appeared to be intoxicated.
3-30 Jeremiah Crump, 31, of Flinchum Road, was arrested by Farthing and charged with first-degree alcohol intoxication in a public place, second offense. Crump was drunk and walking into traffic while on Richmond Road. Farthing found Crump in the parking lot of a store. He said Crump was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and smelled like alcohol. Crump admitted to drinking. Farthing said he believed Crump was a danger to himself and took him into custody.

3-31 Larry Rose, 27, of Red Lick Road, was arrested by Morris and charged with alcohol intoxication. Morris found Rose standing outside a home on Rice Station Road talking to the homeowner. Rose was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech and blood shot eyes. Morris also said he smelled like alcohol. Rose admitted he had been drinking vodka. The homeowner asked to have Rose removed from the property.

Irvine Police Department

3-27 Bradley Harkins, 38, was arrested by Officer Jeff Knuckles and charged with driving under the influence. Knuckles said he observed Harkins while he was parked in an alley off Oak Street. He noticed Harkins almost hit the side of the building. When Knuckles made contact with Harkins he noticed he had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. There was also white residue around Harkins’ nostrils. He admitted to using oxycodone and failed the field sobriety test.

3-29 Whitney Leggett, editor of the Citizen Voice & Times and Teresa Hatfield-Barger, owner, reported that more $5,000 of camera equipment was stolen from the office between Tuesday, March 26, and Friday, March 29.

Clarification
The Steven Hoffman listed in the Police Beats on March 28, is not the Steven Hoffman that lives at Winston.
