Kentucky State Police
The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, which provides coverage for Madison, Clark, Estill, Lee, Owsley, Jackson, Mercer, Boyle, Lincoln, Garrard and Jessamine counties, will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual. These checkpoints will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Special attention will be paid to occupant protection (seatbelt adherence), sobriety, insurance and registration violations. Twin City Kruzerz

Relay for Life
The Estill County Relay for Life event will be Friday, June 7, at the Estill County High School track. Registration for survivors begins at 5 p.m. The survivor lap will be at 6 p.m. followed by the pinning ceremony. The event festivities, including concessions, games and activities, will continue until 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 8.
Estill County Community Chorus Spring Concert
The Estill County Community Chorus will perform its spring concert at 3 p.m on Sunday, June 9, at Calvary Baptist Church in Irvine. The concert will include singers from Irvine, Richmond and Winchester and be dedicated to the memory of Judy Calmes Huber and Stephanie Schnittker. Donations will be accepted at the door to benefit the ACS Hope Lodge in Lexington.
Estill County Appalachian Dulcimer Club
The Estill County Appalachian Dulcimer Club will meet every Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., at First Christian Church on Main Street in Irvine. Anyone who already plays or wants to learn is welcome to attend.
Beer Cheese Festival
The Fifth Annual Beer Cheese Festival is Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Winchester. Applications are being accepted for the amateur beer cheese competition. The prizes for the competition are $200 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place. Congressional Staffer
Meet Estill County’s Congressional Staffer on the third Monday of every month from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the Estill County Courthouse. These meetings are open to the public. Receive assistance regarding Social Security issues, veteran benefits, immigration and passports, discuss community concerns, congressional issues and more. All questions are welcome.
Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs
A Veterans Benefits field representative will be at the National Guard Armory located at 335 Cow Creek Road, Ravenna, on the first Thursday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m. Veterans and their dependents will receive assistance filing for Federal and State veterans benefits. Estill County Fair Little Mister & Miss Estill County Pageant
The Estill County Fair Little Mister & Miss Estill County Pageant will be July 2, immediately following the baby show. The pageant is for boys and girls ages five through seven. Grief Support Group
A six-week grief support group began Wednesday, May 29, and will continue meeting through June 26. The group is offered by Hospice Care Plus and meets Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Trinity Church, PCA, behind Pizza Hut on the bypass in Richmond. Each session is open to the public and there is no charge to attend. Registration is not required. Winchester GTE/Sylvania/Osram/UAW retirees will travel to Natural Bridge for lunch on Tuesday, June 11, at 11:30 a.m. All retirees and former Winchester Sylvania employees are welcome for lunch. Persons needing transportation can meet at the Union Hall at 10:30 a.m.
Central Kentucky World War II Roundtable
The bi-monthly meeting of the Central Kentucky World War II Roundtable will be Friday, June 21, at 6:30 p.m., at the Dinner Bell Restaurant in Berea, just off I-75 Exit 76. The buffet meal is $15. Center for Pregnancy & Parenting Volunteer Orientation
There will be an orientation and sign-up meeting Tuesday, June 18, at 6:30p.m., at the center located at 126 Kentucky Avenue, Irvine, for anyone interested in volunteering with the Estill County Center for Pregnancy & Parenting. Volunteers are needed to help with client services, administrative tasks, organizing resources that are donated and facility cleaning and maintenance. 4-H Summer Camp
Estill County 4-H camp will be July 15-19. The camp includes fishing, canoeing, paddleboats, an in-ground pool with a water slide and diving board, hiking trails, basketball court, volleyball court and the new zip line and rock climbing wall plus many others activities.
