The Estill County Grand Jury returned indictments last week for eight individuals including one for a man found with cocaine on school property.
The grand jury indicted Larry Glenn Richardson, 40, of Jodi Lane, and charged him with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine, first offense), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (opiates, first offense) and possession of a prescription drug not in the proper container (first offense).
In December, the CV&T reported that Richardson had been arrested after a tip was given to a Kentucky State Police Trooper while he was working at a local basketball game.
KSP Trooper Jonathen Hall said in his uniform citation that while working at the Estill County High School v. Powell County High School basketball game, he was informed that Richardson, who was in the crowd, had an active warrant for his arrest.
Hall said when he made contact with Richardson, he confirmed there was a warrant related to cold check allegedly written by Richardson. During a routine search, Hall found a small white plastic container in Richardson’s front pocket.
Inside the container was two green pills and clear bag of white powder.
The pills were later identified as 15-milligram oxycodone tablets. While being mirandized, Richardson admitted the white powder was cocaine.
He was lodged at the Estill County Jail before being released on bond of $7,300.
The following individuals were also indicted by the Estill County Grand Jury on May 24:
•Robert Plowman, 53, of Sunrise Valley Road, is charged with receiving stolen property over $500. On Jan. 1 Plowman sold 10 knives that had been stolen from the home of Elizabeth Fore.
•Darrell Estes, 34, of High Street, is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. On April 28 Estes cashed a check for $160 at Stop & Shop that belonged to Barry Turner.
•Tim Shortridge, 29, of Dark Hollow Road, and Michael Gibson, also of Dark Hollow Road, are charged with complicity to theft by failure to make required dispensation of property over $500. Shortridge and Gibson rented property from Easy Rent-to-Own and did not make proper payment. (A date of birth was not made available for Gibson.)
•Steven Young, 43, of Wagersville Road, is charged with second-degree assault, domestic violence. On Feb. 17 Young caused physical injury to his victim, requiring surgery.
•Jimmy Creech, 38, of Richmond, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense), possession of prescription drug not in the proper container (first offense) and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol (first offense). On Oct. 19, 2012, Creech was arrested for driving under the influence. He admitted to drinking five beers and refused a blood draw. Police found a 30-milligram oxycodone pill in a metal container hidden on him.
•James Harrison, 34, of Stacy Lance, is charged with receiving stolen property (firearm). On April 2 he had in his possession a gun that was reported stolen by Chad Newman.

An indictment is a formal statement of charges and does not imply guilt. An indictment indicates that grand jurors believe the state has enough evidence to prosecute.
