An Estill County Sheriff’s deputy reported working two cases of first-degree burglary over the weekend.
Deputy Randy Farthing said he worked burglary investigations on both Burton Williams Road and Reges Road Friday.
According to the reports Farthing filed, several firearms, jewelry and cash were taken from the homes.
Patsy Barnes, of 315 Burton Williams Road, reported to Farthing that someone broke into her home and tool three guns and digital camera.
Farthing said upon investigating the report, he found that a window on the side of the house was broken, but the suspect was not able to enter because a freezer was blocking the window.
He said the suspect then broke out a window to an exterior door of the home and was able to gain entry that way.
Barnes said the burglar took three guns: a .22-caliber Ruger semi-automatic pistol, a semi-automatic Russo-Chinois rifle and a Springfield semi-automatic rifle. The suspect also took a Fuji brand digital camera.
Also on Friday, Billy Wagers, of 2270 Reges Road, reported someone breaking into his home while he was away and taking guns, jewelry and other items, including $160 in cash.
Farthing reported that the suspect pried open the back door of the house.
There were four wedding rings, a diabetic medical bracelet charm, diamond earrings, three diamond rings, watches, costume jewelry, a .357-magnum Remington pistol, antique coins, a knife with a handcrafted handle and a BB gun missing from the house.
Farthing did not have an suspects listed in his citation.
He listed the cases and open and under investigation.
