KSP arrests 3 for trafficking pills

Two local men and another man from Ohio were arrested Saturday after Kentucky State Police completed an investigation into drug trafficking on Rice Station.
KSP Trooper Jason Carpenter arrested Darren Baker, 32, of Rice Station Road; David T. Arvin, 28, of Sandhill Road, and Aaron Witt, 32, of Dayton, Ohio, were charged with trafficking.
Carpenter said he received an anonymous tip about a man selling drugs at Baker’s home at 1360 Rice Station Road. The caller said the man was selling pills and possibly heroin.
Carpenter and Estill County Sheriff’s Deputy Randy Farthing went to the home and Baker gave them written and verbal consent to search the house, where they found drugs and drug paraphernalia.
According to Carpenter’s citation, he found a plastic bag filled with pills in the pocket of a pair of sweat pants in the bedroom closet. There were 102 30-milligram oxycodone pills in the bag.
He also found a small silver pill container in an empty backpack. Inside the container were two-and-a-half 30-milligram oxycodone tablets and one-and-a-half 2-milligram Xanax pills.
In another pair of pants, the trooper found $3,483 wrapped with a rubberband.
In White’s front pant pocket Carpenter found $2,059 cash.
The officers also found a plate with an unknown white powdery substance on it, several cut up straws and a marijuana pipe.
Carpenter said Baker and Arvin cooperated after being mirandized. White refused to talk to the officers.
All three denied owning the pills or the money .
Baker is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, buying/possession drug paraphernalia and possession of a prescription drug not in the proper container, first offense.
His bond was set at $50,000 cash.
Arvin is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense.
His bond was set at $50,000 cash.
White is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense.
His bond was also set at $50,000 cash.
