The Irvine Police Department made an arrest on March 12 after they responded to a call about an in-progress shoplifting occuring at the Family Dollar Store on Winchester Road.
Irvine Police Chief Brad Smith witnessed the manager of the Family Dollar chasing a shoplifter out of the store. When Smith approached her, he found that she had birthday items stuffed in her jacket. He also noticed that Donna Stone, 33, of 300 Sixth Street, was unsteady on her feet and under the influence of narcotics.
According to the uniform citation, she was uncooperative and kept trying to access her shoe. Smith arrested her and took her to the jail, where several items of contraband were located in her sock.
Melinda Miller, Deputy Jailer, had asked Stone if she had anything, to which Stone replied, “no.” A search revealed Xanax in her sock and Loritab in her purse.
Several varieties of pills were also found in her purse. A small round blue pill, and a small round pink pill were found and identified by poison control as being morphine 15 mg and 30 mg tablets. They were both in an improper container, and Stone did not have a prescription for them. A plastic film from a cigarette pack was located in her sock. It contained 5 pills suspected to be Oxycodone 30 mg. pills, as well as several pieces of what appeared to be Xanax.
Stone was arrested for theft by unlawful taking, public intoxication, possessing a controlled substance, third degree, possessing a controlled substance, second degree, possessing a controlled substance, first degree, first offense, and promoting contraband.
Her bond was set at $15,000 cash.
