Estill County Sheriff’s Department
1-7 Melissa Gentry, 56, and Robert Gentry, 59, both of Reges Road, were arrested by Deputy Karl Rifenbark and charged with fourth-degree assault, domestic violence with minor injury. Rifenbark was dispatched to the couple’s home in reference to a domestic in progress. When he arrived he found Melissa Gentry with a bloody lip. She said her husband had hit her. Robert Gentry had an injury on his chest caused by a screwdriver. He said his wife stabbed him with the screwdriver during the dispute. Deputy Russell “Doc” Morris was a witness to the arrest.
1-9 Etta Renee Estes, 37, of Broadway, was arrested by Morris and charged with second-degree escape. While being transported from Powell County Jail to the Estill County Courthouse, Estes escaped the deputy jailer and fled on foot. She later contacted a deputy and said she wanted to turn herself in. Estes was indicted in December for receiving stolen property.
1-11 Bobby Tipton reported to Deputy Randy Farthing that someone broke into his home at 205 Lela Lane and took $700 worth of jewelry. He said someone entered the home through an unlocked door and went through a dresser of drawers in the master bedroom taking a necklace, a gold bracelet and two wooden jewelry boxes. Farthing is checking with pawn shops for the property. If arrested, a suspect would be charged with second-degree burglary.
Irvine Police Department
1-8 Alana Coulter, 29, of Wagersville Road, was arrested by Officer Michael Gross on Estill County District Court warrants for theft by unlawful taking, second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and knowingly abusing an adult. According to the warrants, Captain Adrian McKinney said that in January 2012 Coulter was found to be switching Betty Crawford’s Lortab pain medication with her muscle relaxers, chlorzoxazone. Coulter also stole a check that belongs to Betty and Tandy Crawford. She gave the check to Dallas Collins who cashed it for $100 at Stop & Shop. Coulter was released on $20,000 property bond signed by Susan and George Coulter of Wagersville Road.
1-12 Charles Morris, 33, of Beattyville, and Sandra Morris, no birthday given, of Stanton, were arrested by Officer Jeff Knuckles and charged with public intoxication. Charles Morris was waiting in the lobby of Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital (MWMH). He was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. He admitted to taking a Lortab and a Percocet. He failed a field sobriety test. Hospital staff said Sandra Morris was falling asleep on her feet, slurring her speech, staggering when she walked and was unable to understand staff when they spoke to her. She admitted to taking medication before coming to the hospital with her nine-year-old daughter. Social services took custody of the child. Additionally, Sandra Morris is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.
1-14 David Haney of 314 Turner Avenue was cited for failing to upkeep maintenance of his private property. Haney had piles of debris and trash on his property that neighbors had been complaining about.
District 1 Constable
1-8 Larry Rose, 27, of Red Lick Road, was arrested by Constable Danny Conrad and charged with speeding 26 miles per hour over the limit, driving under the influence on a suspended license, second offense; and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. While running radar on Wisemantown Road, Conrad saw Rose’s vehicle traveling above the speed limit. When he pulled Rose over, the subject admitted be had been drinking. Rose failed a field sobriety test. He was taken to the Estill County Jail. Bond was set at $2,500 cash.
