The Estill County Grand Jury has sealed more than a dozen indictments from its most recent session. However, two indictments were released including one for Daniel Patterson who escaped and sent police on a manhunt last month.
Patterson, 34, of Hope Estates, is charged with second degree escape.
According to the indictment, on Aug. 1, Patterson escaped police custody while be transported to Estill County for an EPO hearing.
Patterson stole a Dodge truck and fled toward Richmond.
The escape prompted campus alerts at Eastern Kentucky University where Patterson’s estranged wife, Candice Patterson, is a student-employee.
He was arrested days later in Knox County outside the home of his parents Phyllis and Daniel Patterson, Sr.
Patterson was arrested in June and indicted last month for robbing the Cash Express on Richmond Road with a metal pipe. He stole $2,919.56. He was charged with first degree robbery.
The grand jury also returned an indictment for Marcum Johnson charging him with fraudulent use of a credit card.
Johnson, 22, of Beattyville, used his best friend’s credit card several times between Aug. 9 and Aug. 31, 2011, in Estill County.
Johnson withdrew $3,502.48 from his friend’s account.
