Dustin Stevenson’s Photography Studio will open on Main Street this weekend.
In recent decades, 129 Main Street has been home to a chiropractor’s office and a dress shop, but on Friday, Sept. 21, its doors will reopen as Dustin Stevenson’s Photography studio.
With a growing list of customers, Dustin Stevenson needed a place for indoor photo shoots, to store props, display his work and meet with clients.
“Having a studio of my own has always been something I wanted to do, but I didn’t really think I would run with it so soon,” Stevenson said.
He says he’s already photographed 10 weddings this year, as well as several engagement and maternity shoots. He’s also photographed senior portraits, family portraits, newborns and children of all ages.
With winter approaching, he says the studio will become a necessity.
“I wanted a place downtown that would be convenient to meet with customers,” he said.
The old store lends itself well not only to displaying completed work but for photo shoots, with areas of exposed brick walls, old hardwood floors and a punched tin ceiling to add interest to photo backgrounds.
Although Stevenson needed a place to anchor his business, he plans to continue marketing his skills throughout Kentucky and beyond.
“Having done business out of state, I hope that word of mouth helps me from there,” he said.
Stevenson will host a grand opening celebration at his studio this weekend. The public is invited to come in and tour the building, have some refreshments and register for one of several prizes to be given away.
A booth will be set up for customers to take a fun photo, and DSP will be giving goody bags to the first 50 customers, each with a coupon for 10, 15, or 20 dollars in studio credit. The goody bags will include coupons for discounts and packaged prizes with other local businesses.
Besides the goody bags, drawings will be held for gift cards valued at $50, $75 and $100. Stevenson will also be giving away two 11×14 copies of one of his most popular landscape prints and a free session valued at $125.
Stevenson is a 2010 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Art History.
The grand opening will begin at 5 p.m. and will last until 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21. Call 859-625-4056 for more information.
